THE ISSUE:

Instructors need an easy, integrated way to give students feedback on their important, non-machine gradable, open-ended homework.

Without an integrated technology solution, instructors either have to resort to complicated workarounds or students have to print out their open-ended homework assignments, instructors must then grade them by hand, and enter a grade manually in the online gradebook. This situation can be unmanageable; the result being that this critical aspect of the student's homework is often not corrected and graded on a consistent basis.

MyLanguageLabs SOLUTION:

Feedback on Open-Ended Homework (Student view)

Instructors are able to edit and grade open-ended questions. For example, instructors can insert comments and make corrections, and then with one click, the grade will go into the gradebook. (They may also respond orally to students' open-ended work, whether written or oral, through the audio recording feature.)
A list of common errors is available in a drop-down menu (such as Subject-Verb Agreement, Anglicism, etc.); with one click, instructors can insert the appropriate common error identifier so that students can revise their own work.
